Spooky and Mystical Polymer Clay Jewelry Workshop

Embrace your inner dark academic and channel your inner witch—just in time for Halloween!
In this spooky, mystical workshop, we’ll craft captivating, gothic-inspired jewelry pieces using black polymer clay as our canvas. You’ll learn how to work with shimmering opal flakes, magical color-shift mica powders, and eerie-chic stencils and cutters, finishing off your creations with accent beads. You’ll leave with at least two custom pairs of earrings (or pendants) that cast a spell on any autumn outfit, plus the skills to keep brewing up creations at home.

Spooky Sweets Cookie Class

Looking for a Halloween activity that’s different from the usual pumpkin patch? Come and join in for a fun night at the Spooky Sweets Cookie Class!
Gather your girlfriends, your mom, or even your teen for a night of decorating cookies that are almost too cute to eat. You’ll learn new decorating techniques, and head home with a box of Halloween sweets to enjoy (if you don’t nibble them first).We’ll work through step-by-step of 6 cookie designs and answer any questions along the way. This class is hosted by The Bake Shoppe of Devonshire, and will be held at The Makery in downtown State College.
All supplies will be provided (including a box to transport the cookies home). This class is designed for novice and seasoned decorators ages 14+.
PRICING
Each seat is $55.Allergens: Heads up – these cookies and icing include the following ingredients: flour, butter, white sugar, eggs, vanilla extract; powdered sugar, meringue powder, food coloring. The cookies and icing are prepared in a multi-use home kitchen that is certified by the PA Dept. of Agriculture. Please consider any allergies before registering.

Lettering League

The Makery, 123 S Fraser St, State College, PA 16801, USAJoin Shannon with Wright Lettering monthly on the last Thursday for a laid back gathering with fellow letter lovers. Whether you're a lettering newbie or expert, this will be a fun time of creating and connecting. Bring your own supplies for a lettering project, practice sheets, lettering questions, or just a blank journal to doodle in and a beverage of your choice!
While this isn't an instructed class, I will sprinkle in themes here and there (for those interested!) and bring fun pens, markers and other mediums for those interested in exploring and expanding their lettering knowledge.
Drop in for one session or join for the whole year at a discounted rate. This time is set aside as a creative gathering time, not an instructed class, and that is reflected in the registration cost.
Each session is held on the last Thursday of the month except for: Tuesday November 24 and Thursday December 17.

Mini Makers aged 2 - 7 and their grown up are invited to join us on Wednesday afternoons 1-2:00 as we explore several art stations and connect with other families! We will be using a variety of mediums, techniques, and tools to learn about the creative process while practicing early learning skills.
All supplies are included. This group is a great choice for families with preschool and/or homeschooled children. The fall session will meet 10 weeks from September 30 - December 9 (no class November 25).
Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please include the name and age of the child in the “notes” section of the order summary when registering.

$35 Gelli Printing Basics Workshop

This is a single-session 3 hour workshop at The Makery in State College
In this workshop, you will learn the basic techniques of how to use Gelli plates to create complex monoprints by layering acrylic paints.
In this workshop you will learn how to use a resist method to transfer magazine prints, or laser-printed images onto a Gelli plate. Next, we will add acrylic paint layers on top of our transferred images using stencils, and other creative materials. Finally, we will pull all of the combined layers onto a single monoprint.
We will learn, create, experiment, and have fun in this introduction to Gelli printing.

Collage Club

The Makery, 123 S Fraser St, State College, PA 16801, USAJoin us this monthly adult offering of art making and connection! We’ll rip, cut, stick, draw, paint, and have lots of fun while we’re at it.
Please plan to bring a 2-D project and materials of your choice. This could be a sketchbook, a canvas, or any other surface you like. Collage Club is a time to flex your creativity in a low-stress, low-stakes way. We love to make stuff with paper and hope you will too.
We’ll have basic supplies on hand (glue, scissors, some collage papers) but ask that guests come with their own supplies.
Please note: this is an opportunity for gathering and connection - not an instructed class - that is reflected in the registration cost.
We hope you’ll come for the making and stay for the community 🙂

A Sweet Harvest: A Cookie Decorating Morning

Come and join this sweet event in a fun, family-friendly setting! Try your hand at cookie decorating with simple instructions, and create some sweet masterpieces. All supplies are included, making it an enjoyable and stress-free activity for everyone. Each cookie kit is $15 and will contain 3 fall themed cookies, royal icing, a scribe tool, and of course, sprinkles! Make it a morning out with your family, friends, or a date! Kids of all ages are welcome; please note this is not a drop-off event. You can purchase as many kits as you like, whether it’s to help a little one, or you’re looking for some friendly competition! If sharing a kit, please note how many will be in attendance as seating is limited.

You'll have total creative freedom to design and create your own custom earrings, necklaces, keychains, or charm bracelets. While there is no formal step-by-step instruction, our experienced jewelry instructor will be on-hand the entire time to share pro tips, tricks, and guide you through using the basic tools. $35 Block Carving and Print Making Workshop

This is a single-session 3 hour class being held at The Makery in downtown State College
In this class you will learn various techniques to carve and create prints using 4 x 6 inch rubber carving blanks. The class will consist of: Choosing a design (I will provide some images you are free to use) Transferring your design to the block Carving the block Inking and burnishing techniques Creating your final print You will take home, all of the prints you make as well as your carved rubber block.
Please Read - Disclaimer: while all safety measures and proper technique will be taken, the carving tools do have a sharp end. As such, minor cuts are possible if proper care and technique are not followed. Attendees understand and assume this risk, and waive any liability to the instructor by signing up for this class.
