Modern Calligraphy & Hand Lettering for Tweens/Teens Camp

Age: Tweens & Teens 10+
Class size: 16 students
At this camp, little letterers will learn the basics of hand lettering & modern calligraphy in an easy-to-understand way.
Each day will focus on different aspects of hand lettering with opportunities to practice and create. The first day of camp will focus on the basic skills and lower case script letters. Following days will focus on upper case letters, flourishing words and adding style to words. We will split our time between practicing and creating different projects each day with various writing utensils and mediums. Some projects during the week will include a chalkboard sign, painted canvas, and card making.
Each camper will receive their very own lettering starter kit with brush pens, a pencil, eraser, ruler, & journal.
The cost is $200 for Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. To pay with cash/check/Venmo, or with questions, contact Shannon at wrightlettering@gmail.com. Please include your child's name and age when registering.

Explore the vibrant world of polymer clay surface design! In this session, we’ll focus on the artistry of Colors and Textures, teaching you how to add intricate depth and tactile patterns to polymer clay earrings and pendants using stencils and texture mats and rollers. You’ll experiment with metallic powders, color-shift pigments, and chalk pastels to create stunning, colorful designs that pop. Whether you’re looking for a vibrant or shimmering look, you’ll leave with two custom pairs of earrings (or pendants) and the skills to transform simple clay into textured masterpieces.

Looking for a fun, creative way to spend a summer afternoon? Join us for our open-studio style Bead & Charm Club! This isn't a structured class—it’s a vibrant creative hang where you get to be the designer. We’ll provide a massive treasure trove of high-quality supplies, including glass beads, metal and polymer clay charms, and all the essential jewelry findings. You'll have total creative freedom to design and create your own custom earrings, necklaces, or charm bracelets. While there is no formal step-by-step instruction, our experienced jewelry instructor will be on-hand the entire time to share pro tips, tricks, and guide you through using the basic tools. Come with friends, hang out, and leave with your new favorite custom accessories!

This camp is for young women and non-binary identifying writers ages 12+ with an interest in writing.July 20-24th from 1:00-3:30 p.m.

Block Carving and Print Making Workshop $35

This is a single-session 3 hour class being held at The Makery in downtown State College
In this class you will learn various techniques to carve and create prints using 4 x 6 inch rubber carving blanks. The class will consist of: Choosing a design (I will provide some images you are free to use) Transferring your design to the block Carving the block Inking and burnishing techniques Creating your final print You will take home, all of the prints you make as well as your carved rubber block.
Please Read - Disclaimer: while all safety measures and proper technique will be taken, the carving tools do have a sharp end. As such, minor cuts are possible if proper care and technique are not followed. Attendees understand and assume this risk, and waive any liability to the instructor by signing up for this class.

Lettering League

The Makery, 123 S Fraser St, State College, PA 16801, USAJoin Shannon with Wright Lettering monthly on the last Thursday for a laid back gathering with fellow letter lovers. Whether you're a lettering newbie or novice, this will be a fun time of creating and connecting. Bring your own supplies for a lettering project, practice sheets, lettering questions, or just a blank journal to doodle in and a beverage of your choice!
While this isn't an instructed class, I will sprinkle in themes here and there (for those interested!) and bring fun pens, markers and other mediums for those interested in exploring and expanding their lettering knowledge.
Drop in for one session or join for the whole year at a discounted rate. This time is set aside as a creative gathering time, not an instructed class, and that is reflected in the registration cost.
Each session is held on the last Thursday of the month except for: Tuesday November 24 and Thursday December 17.

This is a single-session 3 hour workshop at The Makery in State College
In this workshop, you will learn the basic techniques of how to use Gelli plates to create complex monoprints by layering acrylic paints.
In this workshop you will learn how to use a resist method to transfer magazine prints, or laser-printed images onto a Gelli plate. Next, we will add acrylic paint layers on top of our transferred images using stencils, and other creative materials. Finally, we will pull all of the combined layers onto a single monoprint.
We will learn, create, experiment, and have fun in this introduction to Gelli printing.

Collage Club

Please plan to bring a 2-D project and materials of your choice. This could be a sketchbook, a canvas, or any other surface you like. Collage Club is a time to flex your creativity in a low-stress, low-stakes way. We love to make stuff with paper and hope you will too.
We’ll have basic supplies on hand (glue, scissors, some collage papers) but ask that guests come with their own supplies.
Please note: this is an opportunity for gathering and connection - not an instructed class - that is reflected in the registration cost.

Sewing- Fashion Week

Fashion Camp is BACK!
For ages 8-12
We'll be making a variety of projects to wear- from accessories to items of clothing.
We'll wrap the week up with a fashion show where parents and friends are invited to see the creations the campers came up with.All materials will be provided. Basic machine sewing skills and safety will be learned, and fun will be had all around!

Castle Camp 1

The Makery, 123 S Fraser St, State College, PA 16801, USACome join us to create all of the pieces and parts of your very own castle to take home! We'll learn principles of art and design such as color theory, surface pattern design, sculptural construction, and more while designing and building our very own castle.
We will close the week with a CASTLE TOUR!
Kids ages 5 and up are welcome. Please include your child's name and age when registering in the "notes" section of the order summary.
Registration begins January 5, 2026. Cost is $250 for the week. All materials and 2' castle included.
Please note that the morning and afternoon Castle Camps are separate camps and will be doing identical projects, so you only need to sign up for one session.
